Named after the clan to which Nelson Mandela belonged, Madiba tells the epic tale of Mandela’s heroic journey to bring racial equality and democracy to the people of South Africa.

Directed by Kevin Hooks (Prison Break, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), the six-hour event series stars Laurence Fishburne (Black-ish, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Matrix Trilogy) as the late South African hero and is based on two Mandela books, Conversations with Myself and Nelson Mandela by Himself.

Joining Fishburne in the cast are Orlando Jones (Drumline, The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea), David Harewood (Homeland, The Night Manager, Supergirl) and Michael Nyqvist (John Wick, Mission Impossible: 4, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy).

Madiba is produced and financed by Toronto-based Blue Ice Pictures and also produced by South Africa’s Out of Africa Entertainment in association with the UK’s Leftbank Pictures and Cinema Gypsy Productions.

Blue Ice president Lance Samuels executive produces alongside Mandela’s grandson Kweku Mandela for Out of Africa and Daniel Iron, Neil Tabatznik, Steven Silver, Andy Harries and Loretha Jones.

The series is written by Paul Webb (Selma), Jane Maggs (The Offering, To the Teeth), Janine Eser and Kathleen McGhee-Anderson (The Fosters, Lincoln Heights, Touched by an Angel, The Cosby Show).

Madiba is set to premiere on BET Networks in the US in 2017 and is distributed worldwide by Dynamic Television.

Following the screening, the Content London Welcoming Cocktail will kick off, sponsored by Dynamic Television.
